Find the correct manual first
Check the equipment reference and locate its manual before opening a cover. A wall split, a cassette and a ducted unit do not necessarily have the same access arrangement or filters. Some components are cleanable; others have specific replacement instructions that need to be followed.
At handover, ask which tasks belong to the user and which should be left to a technician. If reaching the filter requires unsafe ladder use, removing a ceiling or dismantling parts not intended for user access, arrange professional help instead.
Keep the task safe and limited
Samsung's guidance calls for switching off and disconnecting the power before cleaning. Follow your own manual's procedure; if you cannot identify how to isolate the appliance safely, stop and ask. Using the remote's off button is not permission to access electrical parts.
Use only the method specified for that filter. Avoid aggressive products and do not force components. Where washing is permitted, follow the stated drying and refitting instructions. If a part will not fit normally, do not improvise with tape or additional screws.
Plan care around actual use
The manufacturer's guidance recognises that the interval varies with use and surroundings. A property affected by renovation dust needs different consideration from one used occasionally. A screen reminder, where fitted, should not be the only information used to judge the equipment's condition.
Record the date of user care and anything unusual you noticed. If several people look after a property, agree who is responsible and where the manual is kept. A short, consistent record is more useful than assuming someone else has already done the work.
Know when to arrange a service
Request assistance if smells, reduced airflow, new noises, drips or error indications persist. Describe the symptoms and any permitted user care already completed, without dismantling the unit to investigate. A clean-looking filter does not establish that the rest of the system is working correctly.
When arranging a service, ask what it includes and what report you will receive. Internal cleaning, drainage checks, electrical work and refrigerant-circuit work are not equivalent to wiping the casing. Any repair or additional work should be explained before you agree to it.
